Dairyland brand 1% Chocolate Milk may contain chemical sanitiser

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Saputo Foods Limited are warning the public not to consume Dairyland brand 1% Chocolate Milk as the product may be contaminated with a chemical sanitiser.

The Dairyland brand 1% Chocolate Milk affected is sold in a 500ml carton bearing the code UPC 0 68700 15300 6 and Best Before NO 05 REG 4289. No other codes for the product are affected.

This product has been distributed in Alberta and South Eastern & North Eastern British Columbia, there has been one reported illness associated with its consumption so far.

Manufacturer Saputo Foods Limited of St-Leonard, Quebec are voluntarily recalling the affected batch, and consumers are asked to return the affected product to the point of purchase or dispose of it. The chemical sanitiser may not be apparent in the product as it may not look or smell spoiled, however it should not be consumed.
