Diamond encrusted Easter egg for your loved one?

Every woman's dream, chocolate encrusted with diamonds. This week a rather unusual Easter egg went on sale.

Unfortunately this diamond and chocolate extravagence comes with a hefty price tag of £50,000.

The Diamond Stella egg is thought to be the world's most expensive Easter egg. Standing at 65cm (25") tall, and encrusted with more than 100 0.5 carat diamonds, the egg is being kept under guard at the Piccadilly store of La Maison du Chocolat.

The egg was made in Paris for La Maison du Chocolat and took over three weeks to manufacture. To set the diamonds around the egg a chef melted small sections of chocolate to hold them, no glue or tape was used.

If the buyer is brave enough to break into their pricey Easter treat, they will find it contains peach and apricot chocolates along with pralines.

A spokesman for La Maison du Chocolat said, "The question we are asking is whether the buyer will want to eat it or preserve it."
